Baca, Angela -Black Melon Jar with 24 Ribs (1970s)

Angela Baca was famous for her carved melon bowls.  This jar has an elegant shape with the melon ribs carved into the clay and a short neck.  There are 24 straight ribs, and the entire piece is fully polished, including the space between the ribs.  The jar was fired a glassy black.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Angela Baca” and it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
