Don’s pies go way back to my school days but their standard really dropped after it got franchised out. I stopped eating them for quite a long time and was pleasantly surprised that the Chef restarted making the OG version himself again. They’re now delicious again with that generous moreish filling and buttery pastry. I come here more often for my seafood beehoon fix because it’s the only place out of home where the recipe contains a healthy serving of hua tiao, just how I love it. The gravy really tastes home made and has great depth of flavour without being overseasoned. Their seafood is always fresh and the scallops in particular are perfectly done, with the roe being soft and succulent. Price is really reasonable too. My only gripe is that the joint is a bit squeezy and not too good for groups any larger than 4.
